Binance offers comprehensive security settings to protect your assets, but many users skip them after registration, leaving their accounts vulnerable. This guide walks you through every security option. If you do not have an account, first register on the Binance official website.
Security Settings Overview

Login > Profile > "Security" to access the security center. Complete all of these:
- Google Authenticator (essential)
- Phone verification (essential)
- Email verification (essential)
- Anti-phishing code (highly recommended)
- Withdrawal whitelist (recommended)
- Device management (recommended)
- Login notifications (recommended)
Step 1: Set Up Google Authenticator
- Find "Google Authenticator" in security settings
- Download Google Authenticator app
- Save the backup key on paper
- Scan the QR code to add Binance
- Enter the 6-digit code to complete binding
Step 2: Bind Phone Number
- Find "Phone Verification" > Enter your number > Verify with SMS code
Step 3: Set Anti-Phishing Code
A custom text that appears in all official Binance emails. If absent, the email is fake.
- Find "Anti-Phishing Code" > Set a memorable but unguessable code (e.g., "BTC2026Safe")
Step 4: Enable Withdrawal Whitelist
Restricts withdrawals to pre-approved addresses only. Even if hacked, funds cannot be sent to unknown addresses. New addresses require 24-hour cooling period.
Step 5: Manage Authorized Devices

Review and remove unrecognized devices regularly.
Step 6: Set Up Fund Password
A separate password for withdrawals and critical operations, different from your login password.
Additional Tips
- Use a dedicated email for Binance
- Use a 16+ character password with a password manager
- Review security monthly
Security Tips
- Do not screenshot security settings
- Do not operate on public WiFi
- Change passwords every 3-6 months
- Do not reveal which exchange you use or how much you hold on social media
- Keep the app updated for security patches
- If you receive unexpected verification requests, change your password immediately. Download the official Binance app (iPhone users, see the iOS installation guide) to ensure you are using the latest official version
Can I still get hacked with all settings enabled?
Extremely unlikely, but theoretically not zero. Full security settings make your account very well protected.
Do security settings slow down trading?
Slightly — a few extra seconds for verification codes. But those seconds protect your entire portfolio.
Can the withdrawal whitelist 24-hour cooling be skipped?
No. It is a core security feature — even if a hacker gains access, you have 24 hours to detect and respond.
